How It Started
Our story began with a simple idea: skincare that actually works, rooted in clinical expertise and made for everyday use. Fig.1 was co-founded by Dr. Courtney Rubin, MD, MBE, FAAD (Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder), a board-certified dermatologist, and Kimmy Scotti (Chief Skincare Junkie & Consumer Insights | Executive Chairwoman & Co-Founder), an entrepreneur and lifelong skincare enthusiast. Together, they set out to bridge the gap between formulas and approachable, affordable skincare.

Every Fig.1 product features active ingredients at dermatologist-trusted levels, delivering visible, science-backed results. Our Medical Advisory Board—led by Dr. Panta Rouhani Schaffer, MD, PhD, MPH, FAAD—guides and validates every formula, ensuring each one is grounded in skin health research.

Chief Medical Officer | Co-Founder & Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Courtney Rubin, MD, MBE, FAAD
Courtney is a board-certified dermatologist and practicing physician at Comprehensive Dermatology of Pasadena. She completed her dermatology training, MD and Master of Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as chief resident. She has also served on the board of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and formerly an instructor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School.
